Job Description

 

Tosca is currently looking for a Director of Sustainability in our corporate office in Atlanta. This individual will work directly with Tosca’s leadership team to understand our corporate sustainability needs, requirements, and goals and to develop and implement the strategies. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this position is an individual contributor who will serve as the thought leader to help Tosca set and meet environmental goals. The Sustainability Director will manage all sustainability reporting, including developing our first Annual Sustainability Report, and must build relationships with our cross-functional partners internally as well as our external stakeholders and partners. In addition, the Director of Sustainability will develop green policies and initiatives that emphasize the proper use of environmental resources with a focus on sustaining these resources for future generations. Duties include the research, development, and implementation of policies that improve the organization’s environmental impact. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and implement Tosca’s sustainability strategy to drive and monitor value realization
  • Collaborate with leaders across Tosca to drive the ESG strategy, activities, and narrative to address ESG topics that align with and support business goals
  • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of KPIs and goals, maintain performance dashboards, collaborate with internal teams on reporting and metrics, including setting and validating Science Based Targets (SBTI)
  • Work with Marketing to develop Communication and Action Plans, including presentations and reports to communicate progress, recommendations, and next steps with internal and external stakeholders, celebrate and highlight successes and positive impacts of our efforts and initiatives.
  • Coordinate engagement with external stakeholders on sustainability initiatives, prepare Tosca’s external reporting, including our annual Sustainability Report, Board of Directors, and Leadership updates, as well as inquiries or external requests for information.
  • Work in partnership with supply chain and operational leaders to develop responsible policies, strategies, and action plans in an integrated company approach. 
  • Collaborate with EHS and Food Safety / Quality leaders on overlapping initiatives and certifications (ISO 22000-2018, ISO 9001-2015, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, EcoVadis, ASCM-E, SMETA, SEDEX, etc.)
  • Adhere to all regulatory agency standards, company quality standards, and corporate policies.
  • Train internal teams on effective use of the program and best practices for customer implementations
  • Educate internal and external stakeholders on the business cases and impacts of ESG
  • Direct third-party consultants and vendors as needed
  • Assess trends, emerging issues and serve as an internal and external thought leader and subject matter expert to establish and maximize leadership and other opportunities

 

Qualifications

 

  • BA/BS 10+ years of related experience in sustainability
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • Recognized certification such as ISSP (SEA or SEP) GRI, SASB preferred
  • Experience with risk and materiality assessment and articulation, including gap analysis
  • Expertise with data analytics and knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and protocols (e.g., Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), Science-Based Target Initiatives (SBTI), etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in product life cycle analysis (LCA) or other product sustainability measures. 
  • Proven experience in improving sustainability performance in manufacturing, supply chain, or other aspects of corporate enterprise. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience leading large-scale initiatives and stakeholder engagement
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently on multiple projects at the same time and meet challenging deadlines
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment with extended teams without direct reports, leading through engagement & influence, Able to inspire others to create change, set priorities, and complete activities on time and budget
  • Computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation skills, PowerPoint and MS office expertise must be at an executive presentation level
  • Writing Skills: memos, letters, data analyses, excellent grammar, and spelling skills. Must have a sharp eye for language, critical review and be a skilled writer
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as business needs demand
